Meditation Supplies
Many people approach a new hobby or a new pastime with a great deal of enthusiasm, only to lose interest after a few months or even days. Some people go out and buy all kinds of supplies for these activities, and then they let those supplies sit around on the shelves gathering dust. With meditation, one of the only things you need to get started is a willingness to reach a new state of awareness in your life.
If you're new to meditation, it's a good idea to seek out instructional materials. Some people prefer to use audio tapes or CDs that feature guided imagery. These audio programs feature an instructor who walks you through the process from beginning to end. Some audio tapes feature nothing more than soothing music that is conducive to relaxation.
Some people choose to purchase candles, mats, and special clothing for meditation. If these items make you feel more comfortable, then by all means invest in them. You don't need anything more than an instructional tool, however, and a little bit of patience to practice a type of meditation called "Be Still and Know."
Roy Masters is the founder and leading instructor of "Be Still and Know" meditation. Roy wrote the authoritative book on this type of meditation. He's also recorded several videos that teach meditation techniques, and many other videos that address specific issues such as parenting issues, marriage problems, addiction, and eating disorders.
